1987-88 Fleer Michael Jordan #59 GAI certified autograph Here are some questions I get about GAI and hopefully I can answer them Question: What is the history of GAI? Answer: GAI was started in 2001 by Steve Rocchi who actually started PSA about a decade before. He served as the president of PSA as well during that decade.

When GAI started in 2001 they were the smallest of the 4 main companies so they started off at a disadvantage. They stayed in business until sometime in 2014 when they went bankrupt and out of business. If you go online you can see it was probably because they were smaller and just could not quite compete with the larger grading companies at the time. Another interesting fact is one of GAI's head graders was this guy named Mike Baker. He also used to work at PSA he was their 1st employee and now he owns this company called "MBA" a new service started in August 2020 that adds a silver, gold or black hologram to cards already slabbed by PSA, SGC and BGS.

It's called dual certification. You can look into it. With over three decades of experience, Mike Baker is the longest serving professional grader and authenticator in the country. He has personally graded millions of trading cards and is considered to be a pioneer in the business.

So yeah GAI is no longer around but it was NOT a junk grading company. Look at the pictures above I took so you can see up close the card!
